Nevermore (Nevermore #1) by Kelly Creagh Review

4 STARS

I was a bit iffy when going into this book mostly because of the whole Cheerleader and Goth couple thing. But I did love this book much more and the couple actually worked for me. I've only read several of Edgar Allan Poe's work but I still was able to enjoy the book but now I have this sudden urge to go read all his other works.

Isobel I actually liked as a protoganist and felt she was a very strong character. Her friends were so horrible and makes me wonder how she was friends with them in the first place.

Varen I liked as well and loved how he interacted with Isobel. He was your stereotypical brooding goth but it was done in a way that it worked for me. But in all honesty who names their kid Varen?

Gwen was another character I really enjoyed and she really made me laugh at times.

The story was very interesting but I felt at the climax of the story that I was very confused in what was going on which left me a bit annoyed. But it doesn't diminish my love for the book enough that will make me not want to read the next book in the series.

Bring on Enshadowed!

Significance (Significance #1) by Shelly Crane Review (if you can call it that)

1 STAR

I just couldn't get into this book espeacially with the whole imprinting situation. As a result I couldn't get into the romance and actually didn't believe they cared about each other.

If anything this book disturbed me that these two people completely depend on each other and can't be together really rubs me the wrong way.

Social Suicide (Deadly Cool #1) by Gemma Halliday Review

5 STARS

I am just in love with Hartley's stories, just hearing her name brings a smile to my face.

As she did in the first book Hartley finds the body of the person who's death is the main plot of this book. I sometimes wonder if she is a Hufflepuff since she seems to FIND every dead body within her walking distance as well as other life-threatening events. I swear she has a talent and maybe consider going into a career of finding bodies.

Anyway onto the story. I was immediately drawn into the book and actually had a harder time figuring out the killer than in the first book, all I can say is that Gemma Halliday did a great job with this mystery and if I ever saw her I would give her a hi-five.

I loved all the characters: Hartley, Sam, Chase and Kyle. Sam and Kyle remind me so much of my friend and her boyfriend and how they interact with each other it was just so sweet to read. Sam actually reminds me of my friend a lot actually now that I think about it.

I felt so sorry for Hartley at some points in this book when it came to Chase but it was such a nice change to read about and still enjoyed even though Hartley had a hard time.

So everyone who loved Deadly Cool should definitely check this out and enjoy the ride with Hartley.

Firelight (Firelight #1) by Sophie Jordan Review

1 STAR

I just couldn't get into this book at all. It mostly consists of Jacinda whining and bitching about everything. She doesn't want to leave the pride but when given the opportunity to go there she doesn't want to. I really just wanted to punch her for her selfishness.

First few chapters were good and the mythology of the dragons really intrigued but it just went downhill plotwise after that and was just Jacinda going back and forth with her feelings for Will. I didn't find the high school believeable and teh students.

So I don't recommend this to anyone unless you like selfish girls who whine about everything and can't do smart decisions than sure go ahead.

Winging It (Dragon Diaries #2) by Deborah Cooke Review

5 STARS

I am really in love with this series it is just beautiful. It is nice to see even from the beginning of this novel how much Zoe has developed from the first book and is much bolder and more attuned with her Wyvern powers.

In this novel Zoe and her fellow Pyr (Liam, Nick and Garret) must deal with the Mages once again as they did in the first novel. On top of this Zoe must has to deal with her parents possibly splitting up, her best friend Megan who she is constantly headbutting with lately and try and balance homework and school on top of that. Not to mention Jared keeps giving Zoe hot and cold signals. So Zoe isn't very happy even with her sixteenth birthday coming up.

Even though this novel didn't have as much action as it's predecessor it worked heavily on character development and Zoe working on developing her Wyvern abilities.

Definitely can't wait for Blazing the Trail.

Bloodrose (Nightshade #3) by Andrea Cremer Review

2 STARS

Ugh. I don't know how to feel about this book. I just felt Cremer took the easy way out with the ending and the love triangle. I can't stand Calla or Shay at all and what saved this book for me was the epilogue because it was from someone else's point of view.

I really did enjoy the action and fighting however but Calla jumping back and forth between Ren and Shay just completely annoyed the hell out of me. My favourite characters had to have been Ren, Ethan, Connor, Adne and espeacially Sabine. I just loved every scene with her and I just loved her character hands down she definitely is the reason Bloodrose gets another star because without her it would definitely be a 1 Star.

I am so happy I borrowed the Nightshade books from the Library and didn't buy them because I just felt the ending was wrapped too nicely and like I mentioned earlier it seemed Cremer took the easy way out with the love triangle.

2 STARS

This book was pretty meh for me. I really do love the world and the mythology that Cremer has built up but I was bored at most points of this novel. There was also a twist I didn't see coming which is difficult for me to be suprised since most of the time I can suss it out. I did like the new characters introduced, Connor is hilarious and is great for a laugh when things are tense.

However I have to say Shay is one of the most selfish characters I know not to mention abusive towards Calla. I seriously hate the guy and can't believe that Calla who is suppose to be a strong female protagonist lets him walk all over her.

Also Calla needs to hurry up and pick the guy she wants to be with because I hate how girls in novels string along guys. Newsflash that is not okay to do and I am pretty sure if a guy was doing this to two girls everyone would be outraged.

But I still will most likely read Bloodrose, I just hope I don't regret it.

Dreamland (Riley Bloom #3) by Alyson Noel Review

3.5 Stars

I love Riley. I honestly prefer her books to Ever's.

Riley reminds me so much of my younger sister it scares me how alike they are in looks and personality. I love that Riley isn't perfect and stuffs up a lot, but she eventually acknowledges it and learns from it to be a better person. I definitely feel like I am reading from a pre-teen's POV. It still deals with death in an aspect as Riley still misses her sister and being a Soul Catcher Riley must help Souls deal with their deaths as well as their previous lives as she has in the previous two books.

The conversation between Riley and Ever really spoke to me and did pull a bit of heart strings for me when my sister looks up to me and seeks my advice.

So if you are a Riley Bloom fan definitely check this series out if you havn't yet.

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) by Kendare Blake Review

5 STARS

Wow I just loved this book.

First off it was from a guys POV, which you don't see much of these days and I loved being in Cas's head.
The romance was very interesting and different and I really believed it. The secondary characters all had a significance and weren't just there. I loved them all.

It had some violence and very gruesome scenes which I love (yes I am very disturbed)but I think some people would have a hard time reading this book if they have a weak stomach like someone being split in half and being told their insides are exposed as well as the body twitching.

It was definitely a very interesting concept of ghosts and ghosts are definitely one of my favourite things to read about.

So if you think you can handle the violence you should definitely check this out and cannot wait for the second book.

Fins Are Forever (Fins #2) by Tera Lynn Childs Review

SPOILERS!!!
It was an enjoyable read espeacially considering it is freezing and pouring rain here.

The underwater puns get a bit annoying after a while however and I find it hard to believe that someone who hates humans a lot falls in love with a human in week and the human falls in love with them in only a few days. Lily did whine a lot and didn't understand how she could forget about the interview twice. I just hate Brody.

That being said it was still a decent book and was very much like the first book and I love Lily and Quince's relationship.

If you are looking for a very teenage drama book with mermaids in the mix this is a good series for you.

Also I just love the cover even though none of the mermaids look like that,I just like the colours.
